Seller

I have a small packaged food business (natural dessert)- How difficult is it to find a buyer and approximately how long does it take? Also, what are the things aside from sales, that make a business attractive?

Dear Seller
by: Ron

Selling a business can be challenging. The statistics are not great. Many great businesses never sell. The industry averages indicate that it takes 6-12+ months to sell a business.

I have sold a business as fast as 2 months and as longs as 16 months so it really varies.

For a business to be in the best position to sell, it is helpful to have documented positive cash flow, good records and growth. Effective marketing is crucial and the business needs to be priced correctly.

Click on "selling a business to the left" there is more detail there. Thanks!
